ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
The Paris Saint-Germain defender spoke ahead of Sunday's Euro 2024 encounter with the Three Lions, saying Gareth Southgate's are under more pressure to win this contest. The 29-year-old believes England have not been at their best in the competition and they "need to convince the world they came here to win".

WHAT MILAN SKRINIAR SAID
He told reporters: "There will be a lot of pressure on them [England]. That may be an advantage for us, because they really need to convince the world they came here to win. They have big, big stars, big players, really, really good players. But we saw some games also in the group that, like a team, they are not at their best so far. So, this can be our opportunity to beat them. Because, if we will play like a team – like one man – like we did during the qualification, during the group stage, I hope and I believe that we can beat them."
Skriniar added: "And we can write the history of Slovakian football if we pass against England. So, yes, it’s a big opportunity for all the team, for all the people in Slovakia and we want to do it."

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Slovakia have never reached the quarter-finals of a major tournament and have failed to win any of their six meetings with England (five losses and one draw). And for all of the Three Lions' talent, they have failed to impress and Skriniar believes they can cause a huge upset this weekend.

Slovakia, who finished third in their group with four points from a possible nine, take on England in the last-16 of the competition on Sunday evening in Gelsenkirchen. The winner will either face Switzerland or defending champions Italy on July 6.
