A Bayern Munich insider has now shared a significant update on Liverpool’s interest in signing Michael Olise in 2026, amid competition from a string of high profile sides.
Curtis Jones confirms Salah "apologised"
It’s been a whirlwind couple of months for Liverpool, who have crashed, burned, and slowly restarted their engine under Arne Slot. They will hope that the worst of their bad form is now over after a much-needed tactical tweak and Mohamed Salah’s reintergration before he headed to AFCON.
The Egyptian hit Liverpool for six with his interview after the Leeds United game, claiming that the club were throwing him under the bus, before Slot excluded him from the Reds’ victory over Inter Milan. Since then, Salah and Slot have shook hands and moved on in a moment of relief for all involved.
Curtis Jones also confirmed that Salah has apologised to the dressing room for his outburst as Liverpool look to move on from what was a messy situation.
The saga isn’t entirely over, however. There’s still a question about Salah’s future that will be answered either next month or in the summer transfer window. To that end, an exit seems more likely to happen in the summer window and that’s when Liverpool could turn their attention towards Michael Olise.
Bayern insider confirms Liverpool's Olise interest
In terms of profile, Olise is the closest that Liverpool could get to Salah next summer. The former Crystal Palace star is less of a natural winger and loves cutting inside on his left-foot, just like the Reds’ modern-day legend. A deal to sign the Frenchman is unlikely to be routine, though.
According to Bayern Munich insider Christian Falk, Liverpool currently have no chance of signing Olise with the German giants set to offer their star man improved terms to stay put at the club. The Reds are interested along with Real Madrid, Man City and Chelsea, but the new deal will add one year onto his current contract to take him until 2030 in the Bundesliga.

Liverpool and Bayern’s relationship could also prove to be a problem. Bayern cheif Uli Hoeness has not shied away from speaking about the Reds and Florian Wirtz’s struggles this season just months after they hijacked their deal to sign the former Bayer Leverkusen star.

He told reporters earlier this month: “They spent £500 million and are having a disastrous season. In my opinion, that’s because they only have superstars. I always say: Liverpool will soon have to play with five balls because the stars won’t give up any of them.”
Negotiations could, therefore, prove to be frustratingly tense if Liverpool attempt to sign Olise next year.
