Manchester United youngster Ezekiel Fryers has sealed a move to Belgian club Standard Liege.
The 19-year-old defender was adjudged to be one of the brightest prospects in the Old Trafford youth set-up, but rejected a new contract with Sir Alex Ferguson’s men to leave the side this summer.
Tottenham and Newcastle were both linked with a move for the youngster, but the Belgian side have confirmed that they have wrapped up a two-year deal for the player.
“We spotted Ezekiel two years ago at an elite tournament where England and Belgium participated,” Standard Liege sporting director Jean-Francois de Sart told the club’s website, translated to English by The Daily Mail.
“We have followed him since. He was out of contract with Manchester United and it was a great opportunity we could not miss.”
Fryers’ departure follows in the footsteps of fellow United youth products Ravel Morrison and Paul Pogba.
