ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
Bailey was spotted wearing a huge smile on Tuesday after landing in the Italian capital to be greeted by huge crowds after joining Roma on loan. But the smile was swiftly removed after the Jamaica international broke down during his very first training session for the club. Early indications say he could miss three weeks, according to IlMessaggero.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Bailey joined Villa from Bayer Leverkusen for £25 million ($34m) in 2021 and has scored 22 goals in 144 appearances for the Villans. Bailey was a shining light for Villa during their recent Champions League run, but injury and a dip in form encouraged boss Unai Emery to let him go out on loan.

WHAT ITALIAN PRESS SAID
Italian paper Il Messaggero said: "He picked up a muscle injury and Roma are set to conduct tests tomorrow to find out the extent of the damage. It may be three weeks as long as there isn't a tear."

WHAT NEXT FOR BAILEY?
Bailey will be upset at the latest development, but he has plenty of time this season to recover, find his form and either return to Villa Park, or convince Roma to take up their option to buy him.
